Information Technology Systems Implementation

THE CLIENT

A public agency retained us to implement several PeopleSoft modules to support their core system operations: human resources, grants and projects, financials, capital and operating budgets, time and labor – and payroll.

THE CHALLENGE

Our client needed support in this multi-faceted systems implementation, especially with business process analysis, refinement, system design and engineering, development, testing, integration, training, sustainment, maintenance and follow-up activities.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Consultancy expertise and PeopleSoft

  • Purchasing
  • Time and Labor/Payroll Interface
  • General Ledger
  • Accounts Payable
  • Capital and Operating Budgets
  • Human Resources

THE SOLUTION

We assembled a top-notch team that included a Project Manager (PM) and subject matter experts to support vital aspects of the implementation. The PM’s key objectives included overseeing the software release management activities, reporting project activities to the CIO, interfacing with third-party vendors and facilitating steering committee meetings.

Technical development included all customizations and integration messaging between financial, human resources and budget systems to integrate and synchronize the data. Our team also analyzed the data, including configuration and system process issues across the modules.

In addition, we evaluated our client’s business practices and recommended numerous process improvements that have delivered substantial benefits to the bottom line.

THE SUCCESS

Our client successfully launched the new system – on time and on budget – integrating key operating activities that were previously conducted on multiple platforms. By standardizing and streamlining business processes, centralizing data and eliminating duplication of efforts, our client is now able to adapt to evolving business needs and establish best practices in human resources, procurement, payroll and general ledger processes. In addition, our client was able to process timely revenue and expense recognition for grants against the funder’s project activities.
