When the CFO fell ill, the CEO and COO combined efforts to cover that position. After several months of overextending themselves, they sought support to establish and launch a performance management program for financial matters.

THE SOLUTION

We developed and measured financial KPIs for our client, specifically in the areas of cash flow and managing outstanding revenue. Our work led us to recommend a broader horizon and an initiative designed to study other financial indicators that inform long-term strategy. Although KPIs help measure here and now, they may not always provide insights into unexplored opportunities or a longer-term picture. To complete the deliverables, we provided the customer with tools to reach short-term and strategic goals.

THE SUCCESS

Through our support, our client rolled out four performance metrics. Within six to nine months, they realized a favorable trend in each area:

  • Revenue growth
  • Sources of revenue and revenue concentration, ensuring that the majority of revenue isn’t coming from just a few clients
  • Long-term profitability
  • Working capital, ensuring the firm’s reserves are enough to take advantage of investment opportunities

After supporting the hiring and onboarding of the new CFO, we transitioned the newly developed management tools to the firm.
